We are seeking a dynamic, resilient, and driven Factory Operational Excellence Coach based in our Milton, ON location to join the Operations team.

The Factory Operational Excellence Coach plays a key role in advancing operational excellence and continuous improvement within the Operations team. This key position will drive improvements based on the ROCKWOOL Operational Excellence program (ROPEX) at the factory. You will manage and set the agenda & targets for ROPEX from strategic planning to execution of kaizens and improvement initiatives and be responsible for implementation and results. You will be an agent of change by leading training events and ensuring continuous development of ROPEX maturity levels by building a strong continuous improvement culture and realizing tangible business results. Be aware of the role then being appointed Factory ROPEX Coach, understanding the role of being a Change Agent in the Factory. Take from the start proactively initiatives and present own constructive ideas in accordance with the overall ROPEX Factory Plan. This to secure that proper Change Management is implemented in the Factory during roll out of ROPEX.

Your future team:

You will become part of the Operations team reporting to the Director of Operations. This position is also part of the ROCKWOOL Group international ROPEX community.   

What you will be doing:

  • Plan, facilitate and train the Factory management team in ROPEX and Leadership workshops together with the OPCO coach and factory HR.
  • Strategy formulation and deployment. Obeya for management and shift leaders.
  • Value stream mapping and Improvement weeks. Assist in the actual training workshops.
  • Leadership (Coaching, Feedback, Situational leadership, Conflict handling, Change management, Standard leader work etc.).
  • Machine boards & Problem solving, 5S, Standard work,  SMED, TPM , Future tools.
  • Plan and take the lead in the final implementation of the “tools” in the factory after the workshops.
  • Support and secure the anchoring of ROPEX in the factory, so that ROPEX become a natural part of daily life in the factory, by addressing the need to continue use of ROPEX tools and leadership to reach agreed factory KPI’s and improvements.
  • Facilitate yearly Strategy and strategy deployment workshops with management.
  • Participate and give feedback on Factory and shift leader Obeya meetings.
  • Support and coach the management team in A3 writing and coaching.
  • Make sure that ROPEX progress is reported in the ROPEX scoreboard  by use of the follow up tools
  • Support and secure that new employees are introduced to and learn about ROPEX in a proper manner, in close co-operation with the local HR Manager.
  • Create awareness about and flag potential problem issues related to proper implementation of ROPEX in the factory to local factory or OPCO Management and GPR ROPEX Team, if needed.

What you bring:

  • Industrial Engineering degree or comparable education.
  • +5 years’ experience within companies/industries which are suitable for the role e.g. process, industrial or engineering where they have driven changes effectively.
  • Practical experience with Lean Manufacturing implementations with proven success in results and cultural change. Strong analytical skills for analyzing problems and proposing corrective actions.
  • Competent in MS Office (e.g. PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio, MS Project).
  • Practical experience establishing Oobeya Management System for shop floor hourly employees, supervisors, and management.
  • Demonstrated leadership and change management competencies to drive change.
  • Solid working experience with systematic problem solving (e.g. A3s, 8Ds).
  • Lean Six Sigma knowledge and/or certification. Skilled in training, facilitation, and coaching.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to adapt communication at all levels in a professional manner.
