Ready to help build a better future for generations to come?

In an ever-changing, fast paced world, we owe it to ourselves and our future generations to live life responsibly.  At ROCKWOOL, we work relentlessly to enrich modern living through our innovative stone wool solutions.

Join us and make a difference!

Are you prepared to revolutionize intralogistics processes across all ROCKWOOL factories worldwide? Our mission is to redefine material flow, minimize manpower involved in the movement and storage of semi-finished and finished products, and advance digitalization throughout our factories.

Your Future Team:

You will become part of GTC S (Cold End Software), a diverse team of 12 professionals representing six nationalities across two locations in Denmark and Poland. Our section has expertise within automation and software. We support different projects, greenfield, brownfields within Wool production, Logistics etc.

What you will be doing:

As an Automation Engineer, you’ll lead efforts to optimize and automate the flow of semi-finished and finished products at our factories by integrating WCS (Warehouse Control Systems) based on the TrakSYS platform. You’ll play a crucial role throughout all project phases—from concept and design to testing, commissioning, and support.

You will be responsible for a wide range of tasks using technologies such as automatic storage and retrieval systems, autonomous mobile robots, automated guided vehicles, identification and labelling solutions, and truck loading/unloading systems. You’ll also be involved in large-scale logistics projects, primarily in Europe, Asia, and North America.

In this role, it’s crucial that you can develop and program PLC blocks yourself, ensuring you have hands-on control over the systems you implement.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Taking full ownership of the automation scope for our intralogistics technologies.
  • Programming, implementing, and maintaining PLC, SCADA, and control systems, and managing their lifecycle—from design and testing (FAT) to installation, commissioning (SAT), and documentation.
  • Collaborating with suppliers to ensure they meet our design standards and requirements.
  • Leading budgeting efforts and preparing tender materials for suppliers.
  • Working closely with clients to understand and meet their technical needs.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams (IT, mechanical, electrical, process) to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Keeping up-to-date with industry trends in intralogistics to continuously improve your expertise.
  • Contributing to the growth and development of the department by sharing knowledge and supporting your colleagues.

Though based in Poznań, you will travel frequently—primarily within Europe, but also to North America and Asia. Expect to be on the road for around 60-80 days per year, with trips ranging from a few days to several weeks. Know, however, that you will rarely be alone.

What you bring:

You are proactive, analytical, and solution-oriented, with a strong commitment to quality. You thrive in collaborative environments and are comfortable making decisions and driving projects forward, either independently or as part of a team.

Key qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 3+ years of proven experience in PLC programming—experience with intralogistics solutions is a strong advantage.
  • Proficiency in Siemens Simatic Manager, Siemens TIA, and Siemens WinCC (v7.5).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring high-quality results are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Fluency in English

What we offer:

By joining our team, you become a part of the people-centric work environment of a Danish company. We offer you a competitive salary, permanent contract after the probation period, development package, team building events, activity-based office in Poznan’s city center in the new prestigious office building – Nowy Rynek.
