This is the role:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our newly established Data Platform Team. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building scalable data pipelines, and maintaining data warehouses, and data lakes using modern stacks. Integrating data from various sources, and ensuring the quality and integrity of our data. Additionally, you will collaborate with the data scientists to ensure that they have the necessary data and infrastructure to develop and deploy advanced analytics models. And work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality data-driven solutions that meet business needs collaborating with multiple stakeholders in Rockwool, including our data science team, BI team, business analysts, and citizen developers.

Your main area of responsibility will be :

  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes using modern stacks,

  • Work with the data science team to understand their requirements, design implement and monitor the necessary infrastructure to support and contribute to their work,

  • Build integrations together with our integration team,

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data needs and design data solutions,

  • Develop and maintain ETL processes to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness,

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of data governance and security policies to ensure data privacy and compliance,

  • Monitor and optimize data pipelines to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance,

  • Monitor metrics for cost and usage of our data platforms,

  • Design and document data architectures, data models, and data flows,

  • Mentor junior data engineers and provide technical guidance and best practices,

  • Co-development of data architecture roadmaps,

  • Collaborate with our architects and master data management team to ensure data quality,

  • Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with regulatory requirements,

  • Additional experience in co-designing and implementing complex architectures for large organizations is a plus but not a requirement.

This is what you offer:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, natural science, Engineering, related field or extensive experience,

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on data integration, ETL, and data warehousing,

  • Strong experience with SQL and data modelling,

  • Skills in programming languages such as Java, Python, and SQL,

  • Hand-on experience with modern related technologies: Kubernetes, Docker, Airflow, Jenkins, Spark, Kafka, Databricks etc,

  • Practical experience with integration of data from multiple data sources, and cloud solutions, such as Microsoft Azure,

  • Experience with Snowflake's cloud-based data warehousing service, DBT's data transformation tool, and Data bricks' cloud-based data processing platform is an advantage,

  • Strong understanding of data warehousing principles, data lakes, and best practices,

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills,

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills,

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, environment bringing knowledge of agile development to the organisation,
