ROCKWOOL UK are currently recruiting for a Factory Production Manager to join our Operations team.

This is the role:

Job Purpose & Scope:

Reporting to the Technical Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the WER Factory Production Teams, to produce ROCKWOOL products as per technical specification, production planning, budgeted cost and output.   

Key Result Areas:         

  • Ensure all employees meet or exceed all key Safety Targets with the aim of achieving a Zero Lost Time Accident Factory

  • Ensure compliance with legislation and Group SHE policies

  • Effectively Lead Production Teams to drive performance across all Lines and Shifts to contribute to the overall Output and Efficiency of the Production Organisation

  • Production of products in accordance with quality and specifications

  • Manage Costs (PKF, VPC, FIXED) across all areas of responsibility, to contribute positively to the profitability of WER and ensure within or below budget level

  • Continuous improvement of production area including CAPEX

Key Responsibilities & Job Content:

  • Ensure that all activities of the Factory Production Department are carried out in a safe way and in accordance with environmental legislation, Group standards and the Group long term Sustainability Agenda.

  • To implement the Factory performance goals which are established each year and updated on a quarterly basis, based on the following areas:

    • Sustainability & Safety

    • Quality assurance and Customer satisfaction

    • Production Key figures: Factory output and Efficiencies

    • Financial indicators: VPC, VPC Cost Savings , Maintenance cost, Fixed cost

  • Develop short and medium-term vision for the factory

  • Ensure the manufacture of products in accordance with agreed technical specification, budgeted outputs and efficiencies and in accordance with the production schedule

  • Ensure the structure and capability of the Production Organisation is aligned with the current Sales demand and has capacity for future expected growth

  • Ensure the development of the Production organisation and employees with a view to continuous improvement of individual performance and to generate a succession pipeline for future Company development.

  • Support the full and effective use of ROPEX principles within the Factory, including training and leadership

  • Implementation of best practice received from Group and factory networks

  • Ensure new developments / improvements within the production and fabrication areas are fully implemented

  • Develop effective relationships with all key stakeholders including SHEQ, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Sales, Marketing and Finance

  • Ensure process key figures, material cost, labour and efficiency are within budget

  • Assist the SHE Manager in ensuring the Production Facilities are operating in accordance with local and Group recommendations in all areas of environmental controls; and that any external complaints are investigated promptly and professionally

  • Comply with legal and other currently binding company rules, instructions and procedures

  • Develop internal networking for best-practice sharing

  • Proactive contribution to the overall factory results

Communication and Working Relationships

  • Reporting to Technical Director

  • Member of Operations Department management team

  • Responsible for Production, Fabrication and Outside areas, approximately 240 employees

  • Direct Manager to Shift Managers, Fabrication Manager and Deputy Factory Manager
