This is the role:

The Factory Operational Excellence Coach reports to the Site Leader and has a dotted line to the regional Operational Excellence Director. The Factory Operational Excellence Coach is part of the Factory Management Team. This position has no direct reports and is located at ROCKWOOL's newest facility in Ranson, WV!

This is a key position to drive improvements based on the ROCKWOOL Operational Excellence program (ROPEX) at the factory. The Factory Operational Excellence Coach is managing and setting the agenda and targets for ROPEX at the factory from strategic planning to execution of kaizens and improvement initiatives to follow-up on implementation and results. It is key to the role that the Factory Operational Excellence Coach ensures a continuous development of the ROPEX maturity level by building a strong continuous improvement culture at the factory as well as realizing tangible business results. The position will be a participant of the ROCKWOOL GROUP international ROPEX community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for driving, managing and developing the ROPEX program in the factory to gain tangible business results and improvements in areas such as Productivity, Production Output, Customer satisfaction, Quality and Safety.

  • Develop a strong continuous improvement culture at the factory by ensuring involvement in ROPEX of all layers of the organization, coaching management to support the continuous improvement culture

  • Facilitate the annual strategy and policy deployment process in the management team

  • Responsible for establishing and leading the ROPEX Core team at the factory to ensure that the ROPEX tools are embedded into the operations organization and processes

  • Implement standardized GROUP ROPEX processes  to the factory; secure alignment with the regional OPEX manager

  • Establish and develop Lean Leadership and Oobeya/performance management as a strong discipline to ensure that the ROPEX system is well respected and sustained and provide coaching/guidance in Lean Standard Work, Gemba and Oobeya as needed.

  • Plan and conduct training in ROPEX tools as needed to ensure that the awareness of the ROPEX tools and application in continuous improvement becomes a natural part of everyday life in the factory

  • Plan, facilitate and follow up on Kaizen activities

  • Provide training and coaching in systematic root cause problem solving and facilitate complex problem solving as needed   

  This is what you offer:

  • Industrial Engineering or comparable education

  • Profound understanding of the Lean toolbox and the Lean principles

  • 2-3 years practical experience from Lean Manufacturing implementations with proven success in results and cultural change

  • Demonstrated strong change management competencies to drive challenging changes. Previous leadership experience is preferred.

  • Solid working experience with systematic problem solving, preferable with Six Sigma knowledge/certificate

  • Strong training, facilitation, and coaching skills
