ROCKWOOL UK are currently looking for a H&S Officer to join their busy Operations team.

Job Purpose & Scope    

To support the H&S Manager with influencing, improving and reporting on the health and safety performance of Rockwool UK, which includes the factory site, offices, and home-based workers.

Key Result Areas

  • Carry out appropriate monitoring and reporting to reflect the H&S performance of Rockwool UK
  • To assist in reducing the number of non-compliance/ conformance issues on-site
  • Deliver H&S training to staff members from all areas of the business

Key Responsibilities & Job Content

  • To undertake occupational health & hygiene monitoring including dust and fume monitoring, noise surveillance and Legionella sampling
  • To arrange for external consultants to carry out formal monitoring/surveys (e.g. LEV, occupational exposure, noise, fire suppression systems, asbestos, manual handling, vibration etc.) and work with the H&S Manager to instigate improvements
  • To book necessary novice/refresher external training courses (e.g. forklift truck, hoist, confined space, breathing apparatus, loading shovel, first aid etc.) when required for relevant staff
  • To maintain RockSHE (internal database) as a super user and undertake investigations into SHE incidents
  • To check and demonstrate compliance with legislation and internal standards (Group MMRs)
  • To assist in the recording and monitoring of H&S key figures at department and company levels
  • To produce risk assessments for the SHE team
  • To create/review COSHH risk assessments, COSHH database management and the work area COSHH Manuals
  • To undertake site inspections on a regular basis to identify and address non-conformances
  • To deliver H&S training and inductions
  • To assist with the development and continued improvement of site management systems (specifically ISO 45001, but also ISO 9001, 14001 and 50001)
  • To act as an internal auditor for the management system

  • NEBOSH general certificate
  • Knowledge of UK H&S legislation
  • Good standard of IT skills e.g. Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of ISO management systems
  • Good communicator
  • Ability to take on responsibilities and manage small projects/ tasks
  • To work well in a team
  • Works on own initiative
  • Comfortable working with figures and undertaking calculations
