Paving the way towards more sustainable, and safety-focused solutions and practices in the construction industry through innovation.

BAU 2019 ROCKWOOL stand

Since 1964, hundreds of thousands have gathered at BAU to experience the latest and greatest in the construction industry. BAU is the world’s leading trade fair for architecture, material and systems. Gathering participants from different branches of the industry, it is the place to be to discover the latest ideas, innovation, cutting-edge materials and technology in the construction industry. This year BAU cemented its status as the biggest trade fair of its kind with 2,250 exhibitors and 250,000 visitors from more than 150 countries. The event is held every two years in Munich, Germany.

Building solutions for a safer and better world

It is no secret that buildings have a crucial role to play in mitigating climate change. According to the International Energy Agency, constructing and operating buildings consumes 36 percent of the world’s energy and produces about 28 percent of energy-related carbon emissions. What’s more, the building sector produces one-third of global waste.

The more we learn more about the impact buildings have on the environment, the more demand for more sustainable materials and practices in the construction industry grows. The more we learn about the impacts of climate change, the more the focus on the safety and resilience of buildings grows.

At this year’s BAU, ROCKWOOL pushed the industry towards a more sustainable direction through a wide range of new and improved products.

Introducing our new ETICS system: where sustainability and safety meet

Sustainability and safety are more than an after-thought; they’re main components in planning and design.

Volker Christmann, Senior Vice President of ROCKWOOL Central Europe comments, “The wish to work sustainably and with building materials of the highest fire protection classification is growing worldwide, especially in countries with flourishing building activities – as is currently the case in Germany. At the same time, thermal protection, sound insulation, ecological balance, longevity as well as the recycling of building materials are important factors in those countries.

At this yea’s BAU, ROCKWOOL company HECK Wall systems launched the first ever ETICS system to have an A1 classification in the German market – proving that safety and quality need not be compromised in creating sustainable solutions. This ETICS system integrates our stone wool, thus leveraging the 7 Strengths of Stone.

A stand that stands for something
