World safety day a reminder to think safety every day

April 28, 2017

Today is World Day for Safety and Health at Work and once again, the entire ROCKWOOL Group is taking a break from our normal activities to focus on safety and specifically how we can all be even safer in our daily lives both at work and away from work.

At ROCKWOOL, focusing on safety means looking back at our safety performance from the past year, having an open and honest discussion about safety issues and dilemmas we encounter in our daily work and gaining new knowledge and tools that will enable us to work safer in the future.

Local safety officers designed customised programmes based on the most relevant safety topics for each location.

Whether in a factory, at an office, or on the road, safety matters and it’s often the small things that can make a huge difference. While it’s a good start that we assemble and collectively focus on safety annually, what matters most is that each employee takes responsibility for making safety part of their own and colleagues’ daily work.

In assessing our safety performance over the past year, CEO Jens Birgersson notes: “First and foremost, we achieved our goal of not having any fatalities in 2016. In addition, our non-mineral wool production activities saw major improvements. Outside our factories, I’m pleased with the strides we took to increase awareness of being safe in the office and when traveling”.

Birgersson also encourages employees to remember: “Safety starts with you. No matter what job, task or challenge you have, we should never compromise on safety. Keep yourself safe and remember that our overriding goal is that each and every employee arrives home safely after every day at work”.

Please take a few minutes to watch the video where Birgersson expands on what safety means at ROCKWOOL.
