R&D Engineer

As an R&D Engineer, you are the technical backbone of the Rockfon innovation team. You will establish and maintain a state-of-the-art test lab, create and manage a technical database, and provide hands-on technical support to R&D Projects and Product Management. You will also take ownership of work packages or small-scale projects, including early phase prototyping, to support innovation within the Business Unit Tiles. Your expertise helps ensure that new and existing products meet technical performance standards and are implemented successfully.

Workplace: Roermond

Key responsibilities:

- Plan and execute tests for R&D projects across Rockfon, particularly for BU Tiles;

- Support cross-category innovation projects with in-house or external technical expertise;

- Provide technical support to Product Management, including documentation and testing data;

- Set up and operate a lab for prototyping and testing, including equipment and procedures;

- Develop and maintain a technical database of test results and standard operating procedures (SOPs);

- Maintain a knowledge base of production technologies and project execution practices;

- Plan and execute small technical projects or work packages as part of larger innovation programs.

What you bring

Essential:

- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Chemistry, Materials Science or a related field;

- Practical, hands-on technical skills in a laboratory or production environment;

- Proficiency in English (spoken and written, business level);

Desirable:

- Knowledge of fibre or coating technologies;

- Familiarity with Six Sigma or other structured development methodologies;

- Basic project management skills (1+ years’ experience);

- Strong communication skills, including technical presentations.
