Achieving effective fire protection throughout the full built environment requires detailed design to identify any areas which might facilitate the spread of fire or pose a significant risk to safe escape. While insulation which delivers fire protection will be specified as part of standard floor, wall and ceiling construction, there are more detailed areas such as compartment junctions and movement joints which need specialist treatment to ensure the building will perform under fire conditions.
