When did we open our manufacturing facility and head office?
Founded as a family business, ROCKWOOL has a history of responsible environmental practices, developing community partnerships, and investing in the communities in which we operate globally. Our first production facility in North America – located in Milton, Ontario is an example of just that.
Having opened in September of 1988 and now in operation for more than 30 years, we are a proud neighbour and continue to partner with the community by investing in sustainable operations and getting actively involved in local programs and causes that support the wellbeing and prosperity of local residents.
The 750,000-square-foot manufacturing plant is located on Steeles Avenue. The facility was purchased as a brownfield site from Lafarge Canada, brownfield meaning that the land was previously used for industrial purposes.
In 2008 we then undertook a $175M renovation and expansion of the Milton site increasing production capacity and creating 100 additional local jobs, before finalizing construction of our corporate headquarters for the region in December of 2014 located on Esquesing Line.
For a detailed look at what it means to have ROCKWOOL in your community, we created a Community Brochure. It covers everything from how our manufacturing facilities operate to working at ROCKWOOL and our social responsibility efforts to support local programs and causes.
