We are committed to West Virginia for the long-term, bringing job stability and security to workers employed at our new Ranson, West Virginia facility. In Ranson, we will employ at least 150 people locally with approximately 80 percent of those positions in technician roles supporting the production line and 20 percent in leadership roles. Baseline salaries for these jobs will range from $35,000 - $55,000 per year for technicians, and an average $85,000 per year for leadership and management positions.

In addition to the competitive base salary, all employees receive excellent benefits including health, dental, and vision coverage (of which the company pays up to 85 percent of the premium), as well as disability and life insurance. Employees can elect to receive coverage for their spouse and dependents. We are proud to offer a well-rounded benefits package which includes two-three weeks of paid vacation and a 401K matched up to six percent by ROCKWOOL. In total, the benefits package has a value of about $18,500.

ROCKWOOL provides access to courses, apprenticeships, and a range of in-house and online training programs and resources to support skills development and employee advancement. This allows entry-level staff, for example, to be strongly positioned for growth, and with excellent performance on the job, they may be eligible for promotions after just one-two years.

We also provide multiple programs as part of our commitment to long-term security of our employees, including: 

  • A hybrid vehicle incentive program 
  • Fitness reimbursement 
  • Education reimbursement via generous tuition subsidies for job-related courses 
  • Mentoring program (employees are eligible to participate after one year of service) 
  • Employee product purchase program

We are hiring locally and investing in West Virginia

We have already hired our Factory Manager, an Area Leader, and a few other team members. We plan to continue ramping up our local team with recruitment for technicians, management, and leadership roles scheduled to begin in the second half of 2019. Opportunities with ROCKWOOL in Ranson include: 

  • Operations: transform the stone and other raw materials into quality products. 
  • Engineering: functions as the key technology provider to our production facilities. 
  • Maintenance and tradespeople: provide maintenance services for company equipment and buildings to pursue plant improvements and cost-effectiveness. 
  • Supervisors: manage the plant and personnel to achieve objectives in terms of safety, quality, quantity, cost, efficiency, environment, and customer service. 

Note: Pre-employment fit-for-duty assessments and drug screening are standard for employment in our U.S. factories.

We are committed to becoming a positive and contributing member of the Jefferson County community. We’re already working with the West Virginia Manufacturers Association by participating in the Education and Workforce Advisory Council to partner with the Community and Technical College System on fine-tuning the workforce needs with education and development initiatives. 

ROCKWOOL is also engaged both with the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce where we are a member supporting their mission to promote local business growth as well as beginning to partner with Blue Ridge Community and Technical College (Blue Ridge CTC) on the development of training programs that will help improve the workplace readiness and onboarding of new employees.

Highlighting the manufacturing industry in Jefferson County

The manufacturing industry currently employs roughly 6.5 percent of the workers in Jefferson County.1 With occupations ranging from maintenance and entry-level staff to roles that require more specialized skill sets, the industrial manufacturing industry is quite diverse in the employment opportunities it provides within the City of Ranson and Jefferson County. 

Based on an analysis prepared by the West Virginia Manufacturers Association, the job multiplier effect of manufacturing is the highest of any industry in the state.

For every one job created in the manufacturing industry, another 3.39 jobs are created through the value chain of the economy.2
