Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)

How we monitor our environmental impact

LCA is a method for assessing and measuring the environmental impact and the use of resources and energy of Rockflow stone wool products throughout their entire life cycle; from the extraction of raw materials to the end of the product's life.

Why is the LCA important for Rockflow?

Sustainability is in Rockflow's DNA. By measuring our performance in environmental terms, we can identify where we need to focus in the future and improve our weaknesses. We systematically assess the performance of our Rockflow products using cradle-to-cradle LCAs. This way, we can be transparent with our customers about the sustainability of our products.

Environmental product declaration (EPD)

What is an EPD (Environmental Product Declaration)?

An EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) is a document that summarises information about the life-cycle environmental impact of products. It is a bit like the nutritional label on food, except this declaration indicates the potential impact on the environment in three basic categories: environmental impacts, resource and energy use and waste.

The Rockflow EPD follows European and International Standards (EN 15804).

Note: Because the underlying datasets and depth of information included differs from company to company, EPDs cannot yet be used to draw comparisons between products.
