We believe that by decarbonising our business and value chain, we can reinforce the fact that we’re a net carbon negative company. That’s why we signed up to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in 2020. This involved committing to a verified and approved plan for an ambitious one-third reduction of our lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by 2034, using 2019 as the baseline.

How do we contribute to the circular economy?

At ROCKWOOL, we follow nature’s lead, where circularity is the norm. All living things exist, die and return to life in a never-ending circle. Our products are made from natural stone, making it possible to fully recycle used stone wool into new stone wool – over and over again and without any loss of performance.

Creating healthy living environments

As the global population continues to grow, our cities will need to accommodate more people in a safe and healthy way. The buildings that we spend time in affect our health, wellbeing and productivity – and considering we spend nearly 90 percent of our time indoors, a healthy indoor environment is very important. Stone wool products can meet some of the challenges that come with city living. From noise pollution to fire safety, ROCKWOOL products can help create the optimal indoor environment while enhancing fire resilience.

Feeding the world

By 2050, the earth’s population is predicted to be 9 billion – and 80 percent of all food will be consumed in cities. This growing urban population will need access to healthy and nutritious food. In places where agricultural land is scarce, new and innovative forms of food production hold the key to feeding city dwelling populations. Our Grodan hydroponic products enable food production in urban settings using fewer natural resources.
