Reaction to fire tests

Reaction to fire tests are used to see whether a material fuels the fire and helps it to spread or not.


ISO 9705 Room Corner test. Pilot gas flame in the corner: 100 kW (equivalent to a burning waste paper basket). Test material: foamed plastic insulation (polyurethane). Test result: flash-over within 30 seconds. In real fires the death toll tends to rise threefold if flash-over occurs.
