Life Cycle Assessment

In its lifetime a typical Rockwool insulation product saves more than 100 times the energy invested in its manufacture, transport and disposal.
By burning less fossil fuels for our homes and workplaces, less air pollutants such as CO2, SO2, NOx are emitted.

Energy
The world demand for energy today equals more than 9000 million tonnes oil - and it is growing!
Green house gases and global warming
Even small changes in global temperature can change living conditions.

Eutrophication
Eutrophication is an excess of nutrients which can result in extreme growth of poisonous algae.
Acid rain
Acid rain can damage trees, freshwater habitats and attack the surfaces of buildings and historic monuments.

Smog
Volatile organic compounds emitted from exhaust pipes and chimneys form photochemical ozone also called smog.
How sustainable?

What's the energy balance of Rockwool insulation compared to other green technologies?

The thorough Life Cycle Assessment has been made by Force Technology / dk-Teknik. It fulfils the ISO 14000 quality standard and has been peer reviewed. The LCA is based on a “cradle to grave” analysis of a typical Rockwool loft insulation product (250 mm) manufactured in
Denmark and installed in accordance with the regulations for new buildings.

The LCA has been published in the International Journal of Life Cycle Assessment. Read more
