The intention to boost Coca Cola’s sale in the stagnate Malaysian soft drinks market brought about the construction of their new bottling plant on a 30 acre plot located in Enstek Technology Park, nested in the southern state of Negeri Sembilan. Lower logistics cost of transporting raw materials and attractive incentives were some of the reasons for choosing this site which has been in operation since June 2011.

Coca Cola Bottlers (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of The Coca Cola Company, took over the bottling and distribution of its products upon the expiry of its franchise agreement with Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd.

Construction of the facility was carried out according to Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED)certification standards. And the use of ROCKWOOL insulation products helps the plant to score LEED points.

The roof construction uses ROCKWOOL ThermalRock Blanket, selected for its excellent thermal and fire performance. Being dimensionally stable, the material will not expand or contract due to weather variance and is able to reduce heat penetration
ensuring that the building is kept cool throughout the day. The non-combustible nature of the stone wool insulation, with a melting point of approximately 1000ºC, can effectively impede the spread of fire and provide critical extra minutes for
occupants to escape in the event of fire.

Partition walls within the plant were insulated with ThermalRock Slab. This provided excellent acoustic performance because stone wool has air-filled interconnected spaces within its structure that reduces the
noise carrying air flow. ThermalRock effectively reduces the noise from machines or activities of people, therefore creating a conducive work environment for all.

The close proximity of ROCKWOOL factory to the bottling plant greatly reduced the transportation time, allowing us to meet the project's expectations and deliver the materials promptly to site.

As such, ROCKWOOL is proud to be part of its first bottling plant project in Malaysia and to be able to supply insulation materials in line with the project's expectations.
