This initiative is a result of the Dutch government's Fire Safety Action Programme intended to raise the level of knowledge with regard to fire safety throughout the building sector.
The lectureship will be implemented in cooperation with a number of leading authorities and aims to strengthen the knowledge and skills of students so that they will in future be able to contribute to a fire safe environment.
Rockwool funding and expertise
Rockwool Benelux fully endorses the aim of the lectureship and is also providing support in the form of funding as well as expertise. As a member of the Advisory Council, Rockwool Benelux shares its expertise in the area of fire safety in the building sector and also contributes to the practical research activities.
Louis Cleef, Fire Safety Manager at Rockwool Benelux: “Fire safety can be looked at from various perspectives. Our vision is that fire safety, in practice, should extend beyond the criteria set down in legislation and regulations. At any rate, fire safety should always be a number one priority in order to minimise the risks for people, property and the environment.”
