Environmental management
Our Group Policy prescribes that each subsidiary must have an Environmental Management System (EMS), which covers responsibility and control procedures. Some subsidiaries have chosen certified management systems like ISO 14001 or EMAS.

Rockwool environmental standards
To improve the factories’ environmental performance even further and minimise risks, the Rockwool Group has developed environmental standards, specifying safety procedures, responsibility and measuring methods. A 50% reduction of energy use and emissions per insulation unit is often realised as the newly acquired factories are modernised and brought up to Group environmental standards. These Rockwool standards may even exceed local minimum requirements. Over the years, the Group has won environmental awards in a number of countries.
The individual subsidiaries are responsible for the day-to-day safeguarding of the environment at our factories. The Group central environmental department, headed by Group Environment Manager Annette Hastrup, acts as advisor to, and auditor of, the subsidiaries and co-ordinates the corporate environmental policy and strategy.
