France is renovating all its public buildings

In October 2007, the French government launched the Grenelle Environment programme which will cut CO2 emissions from buildings by 50% within 10 years

 

 

In France, the government has decided to energy renovate all its public buildings by 2012 in order to cut the energy consumption by almost 40% in 2020. France will start by doubling the number of old buildings being renovated every year to 400,000 starting with 800,000 public housing units that are currently in very poor condition.
