Requirements

The municipality of Egedal have the following requirements for the buildings that are being built in the Stenløse South area:

  • The energy consumption for heating must not exceed 34 kWh/m2 for buildings in densely populated areas and block of flats. This is a 35 % reduction compared to the Danish Building Code
  • The City Council recommends annual energy consumption for heating of only 15 KWh/m2. This is more or less the same as the German passive house standard (they cannot be compared directly due to different calculation methods) and 70 % lower than the Danish Building Code
  • The houses do not need to have a specific form, design or construction. The only requirement is that energy saving initiatives will keep the energy consumption below the allowed level by adding extra insulation, ensuring a high degree of density, making use of solar systems, etc
  • All houses will be blower door tested by the municipality
  • Rainwater must be used for toilet flushing and washing
  • PVC and pressure-creosoted wood are not allowed as building materials
