Hearing impairment
Hearing impairment is typically defined as an increase in the threshold of hearing. Hearing deficits may be accompanied by tinnitus (ringing in the ears).
Noise induced hearing impairment occurs predominantly in the higher frequency range of 3000-6000 Hz, with the largest effect at 4000 Hz. However hearing impairment is not expected to occur at LAeq,8h levels of 75 dB(A) or below, even for prolonged occupational noise levels.
