The Rockwool Foundation was established on 23 December 1981 by six members of the Kähler family:
- Valdemar Kähler, Graduate Engineer
- Mrs. Inge von der Hude
- Claus Kähler, CEO
- Erik Kähler, Engineer
- Mrs. Dorrit Kähler, Artist
- Gustav Kähler, Manufacturer.
Largest shareholder of Rockwool International A/S
During the Foundation's first years, the six founders each transferred 25% of their shares in Rockwool International A/S. As a result, the Rockwool Foundation has been the largest single shareholder of Rockwool International A/S for the past almost 25 years.
Nonprofit organisation
The Foundation is a nonprofit organisation with the objective of supporting scientific, humanitarian, artistic or social goals and contributing to the improvement of the environment and the general development of society.
