New CO2 and energy efficiency goal on the right track
The ROCKWOOL Group’s new ambitious goal to become 15% more energy and CO2 efficient in its own factories from 2009 to 2015 has had a promising start.
As indicated in the Sustainability Report 2012 of ROCKWOOL International A/S, the ROCKWOOL Group’s production units have since 2009 managed to use 6.3% less energy per tonne stone wool. CO2 efficiency has been improved by 8.6% from 2009 to 2011. In order to achieve its goal of saving additional energy and CO2, the Group will intensify its successful endeavours in improving material efficiency and the melting process.
The ROCKWOOL Group also has a goal to increase its positive net carbon mitigation footprint. From over 4000 million tonnes CO2 lifetime savings by the insulation produced in 2009 to 7600 million tonnes CO2 by the insulation produced in 2020. Also this net carbon footprint goal is slightly ahead of plan.
